Areas of Expertise:
Women's Issues, Self-Connection, Relationship Issues

I welcome adults of all ages, identities, and gender. I do not offer couples counseling at this time although occasional sessions with others of importance in your life is highly encouraged – including spouses, loved ones, siblings, close friends, and parents.

Women's Issues

Women’s issues are special to me and I am super passionate about helping women work through dynamics unique to us including but not limited to mental health, postpartum/infertility, social roles, family dynamics, self-care/love, body issues, sexuality, trauma, marriage/dating, values, finding purpose and career. These issues may be experienced by women differently and therefore need specialized attention. I have specific training in perinatal and postpartum mental health from Postpartum Support Virginia (PSA).

Young Adults

I also love working with young adults both men and women.  I have a deep understanding of the life and experiences of young adults. These experiences are not always understood, appreciated, and acknowledged by society, and sometimes your own family. At my core, I am a person that receives young adults with empathy and compassion and I have the desire and ability to meet people exactly where they are

Psychotherapy
Emotion Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT)

My approach is highly emotion focused and together we will explore the ways in which early learning experiences may be contributing to current difficulties in your functioning. The goal is to uncover the templates that cause you to create negative, distorted inferences about yourself and your relationship with others. Maladaptive ways of functioning can influence your moods, decision making, and limit your ability to find happiness and contentment in your life. Let me help you activate the shift into a better life!

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation involves learning about thought perspectives and understanding symptoms of psychological and emotional problems. Why is this helpful? When you can better understand the issues you are addressing, you will see them as treatable rather than shameful. It is also more likely that you will generate and sustain intrinsic, meaningful, and personal motivation for your self-development journey. During the course of treatment at Larkspur, psychoeducation could include viewing educational videos, completing worksheets, and/or agreed assignments outside of therapy sessions.
